Roger Fite: A Rugby Legend

Roger Fite was born in a town called Cabrerolles in France. His family later moved to Aveyron. This is where he started his rugby journey with a team called CCA Capdenac.

Early Club Career

In 1957, Roger joined Cahors Rugby. Here, he played alongside other great players like Alfred Roques and Bernard Momméjat. He then moved to CA Brive in 1962. He spent a long time at CA Brive, playing in 192 matches. This included four big final games, though his team did not win those.

After his time at CA Brive, he played for two more clubs. He spent five seasons with SC Tulle. Then, he played for US Terrasson for two seasons before ending his playing career.

Playing for France

Roger Fite also had the honor of playing for his country. He made his first international appearance for the French national team on 23 March 1963. This was during the 1963 Five Nations Championship against Wales. He also played another international match against Italy.

Life After Playing Rugby

After he stopped playing, Roger Fite continued to be involved in rugby. He became the President of the Comité du Limousin, which is a regional rugby organization. He also served on the main committee of the French Rugby Federation, which manages rugby across France.

Roger Fite passed away on 28 November 2020, when he was 82 years old.
