Roland Henin facts for kids
Roland G. Henin is a famous American chef. He is known for being a top chef and a great teacher. He works as the main chef and culinary ambassador for a big company called Delaware North Companies.
Henin is one of only about 60 certified master chefs in the United States. This means he has reached a very high level of skill and knowledge in cooking. Throughout his career, he has been recognized as an amazing chef, a wonderful cooking teacher, and someone who has helped create cookbooks.

Coaching Future Stars
Roland Henin has helped many chefs become successful. He coached Timothy Hollingsworth for a very important cooking competition called the Bocuse d'Or in Lyon, France, in 2009. This competition is like the Olympics for chefs!
He also mentored another famous chef, Thomas Keller. Thomas Keller even helped choose Henin to coach for the Bocuse d'Or.
Olympic Culinary Success
Earlier in his career, Henin coached the U.S. Culinary Olympic Team in 1992. This team won a gold medal, which was a huge achievement!
He also received the very first National Chef Professionalism Award ever given by the American Culinary Federation. These successes helped him become the director of the Culinary Arts Department at the Art Institute of Seattle. He has also taught at other well-known cooking schools, like the Culinary Institute of America and Johnson & Wales College of Culinary Arts.

Cooking for Big Venues
At Delaware North, Roland Henin is in charge of all the company's cooking operations. This means he oversees the food at many places around the world, including national parks, sports stadiums, and entertainment venues. Imagine being responsible for all the food at a huge baseball game or a concert!
He also helped Delaware North create their first cookbook, Pathways to Plate, and its follow-up, Home Plate.
Supporting New Chefs
In early 2008, a scholarship was created in Henin's name at the Culinary Institute of America. This scholarship helps future students who want to attend the school and become chefs, just like him.
Henin continued to coach talented chefs. In 2008, he coached five chefs from Delaware North for the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany. All five chefs did very well. Ambarish Lulay and Scott Green won silver medals, and Kevin Doherty earned a bronze medal.
Before Delaware North
Before working at Delaware North, Henin was the executive chef at OSF International and Truitt Bros. in Oregon. He also worked as the chef de cuisine (which means "head of the kitchen") at the five-star Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.
