Roland Sebastian Martin (born November 14, 1968) is an American journalist. He is known for his work on TV and online. He hosted shows like News One Now and Washington Watch with Roland Martin on TV One.

He also worked as a commentator for CNN. He appeared on many CNN shows, including The Situation Room. In 2008, he joined the Tom Joyner Morning Show as a senior analyst. Today, he hosts his own web series called Roland Martin Unfiltered on YouTube.

Roland Martin has written several books. These include Speak, Brother! A Black Man's View of America and Listening to the Spirit Within. He also wrote about Barack Obama's journey to the White House.

About Roland Martin's Life and Career

Roland Martin was born in Houston, Texas. His family has roots in Louisiana and Haiti. He studied journalism at Texas A&M University. He also earned a master's degree in Christian communications.

He used to be the executive editor for the Chicago Defender newspaper.

From 2005 to 2008, Martin hosted a morning radio show in Chicago on WVON. He joined CNN as a contributor in 2007. He sometimes filled in as a guest host for other shows, like Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull.

In 2009, he started hosting Washington Watch with Roland Martin on TV One. This was the network's first Sunday news show. It ran for four years.

Roland Martin left CNN in March 2013. His last day there was April 6, 2013.

In July 2013, it was announced that he would host NewsOne Now. This was TV One's first live weekday morning news program. The show started on November 4, 2013. On December 7, 2017, Martin announced that TV One had canceled the show. He said it was due to low ratings from Black viewers. However, he still stayed involved with the network. In January 2018, he won two NAACP Image Awards for NewsOne Now.

Roland also hosted a radio show called The Roland Martin Show. He now hosts his web series, Roland Martin Unfiltered, on YouTube.
