Rolf Holger Lassgård (born on March 29, 1955) is a famous Swedish actor. He is well-known for his many roles in exciting crime drama movies and TV shows.

About Rolf Lassgård's Acting Career

Rolf Lassgård was born in Östersund, Sweden. When he was young, he loved playing ice hockey. He also joined a theater group. Later, he studied acting at the National Swedish School of Acting from 1975 to 1978.

Early Acting Roles

After acting school, Rolf joined a theater company called Skånska Teatern. He stayed there for four years. His first TV appearance was in 1980. He played "Puck" in a play called A Midsummer Night's Dream. In 1982, he moved to another theater company, Folkteatern, where he gave many great performances.

Winning Awards for His Work

Rolf Lassgård started getting noticed for his film roles. He was nominated for an award called the Guldbagge Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his part in the movie Önskas. The next year, he won this award for his role in Night of the Orangutan.

Big Roles in Movies and TV

Rolf's big break came in 1992. He starred in the film Min store tjocke far (which means "My big fat father"). For this movie, he won another Guldbagge Award for best male actor.

He has played many different characters since then. He was known as policeman Gunvald Larsson in a series of films from 1993–94. These films were based on the Martin Beck detective novels. He also played Kurt Wallander in TV movies based on the Henning Mankell novels from 1994 to 2007.

More recently, Rolf played a crime psychologist in the TV series Sebastian Bergman. From 2011 to 2015, he appeared in the Norwegian comedy series Dag. In 2013, he starred in the crime series The Death of a Pilgrim. This show was about the assassination of a famous politician.

One of his most famous roles was as Ove in the 2015 film A Man Called Ove. This movie was very popular. He won another Guldbagge Award for best male actor for this role.

Rolf Lassgård married actress Birgitta Lassgård in 1989. They had been together since 1982. They have three children. They divorced in 2021.
