About Rolf Lassgård's Life and Acting Career
Rolf Lassgård was born in Östersund, a town in Sweden. When he was young, he loved playing ice hockey. He also became interested in acting and joined a special acting school in Östersund. Later, he went to the Stage School in Malmö from 1975 to 1978.
While at school, Rolf met a director named Peter Oskarson. He joined Peter's theatre group called Skånska Teatern. He stayed with them for four years. His very first time on television was in 1980. He played the character "Puck" in a play called A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Early Film Roles and Awards
Rolf Lassgård started with small parts in movies. His big break came in 1992 with the film Min store tjocke far, which means "My big fat father." For this role, he won the Guldbagge Award for best male actor in 1992. The Guldbagge Award is a very important film award in Sweden.
He was also nominated for the Guldbagge Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his part in the movie Önskas. The next year, he won the award for his role in Night of the Orangutan.

From 1993 to 1994, he played a policeman named Gunvald Larsson in a series of films. These movies were based on the Martin Beck novels. He also played Kurt Wallander in TV movies based on the Henning Mankell novels. These shows were popular from 1994 to 2007.
Later, he played a crime psychologist in the TV series Sebastian Bergman. From 2011 to 2015, Rolf also appeared in a Norwegian comedy show called Dag. In 2013, he starred in a crime series called The Death of a Pilgrim.
A Man Called Ove
One of his most famous roles was as Ove in the 2015 movie A Man Called Ove. This film was very popular and Rolf won another Guldbagge Award for best male actor for his performance.

Rolf Lassgård married actress Birgitta Lassgård in 1989. They had been together since 1982 and have three children. They divorced in 2021.
