Rondell Edwin Turner, known as Ron Browz, is an American rapper, singer, and music producer. He was born on December 6, 1982, in Harlem, New York. Ron Browz became well-known for creating music beats for other artists.

He gained a lot of attention for producing the song "Ether" for the rapper Nas in 2001. After this, Ron Browz started calling himself "Ether Boy." He even named his own music company "Ether Boy" in 2009. As a singer, he often used a special sound effect called Auto-Tune in his songs.

His song "Pop Champagne" with Jim Jones and Juelz Santana was very popular in 2008. It even reached the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart. He also appeared on Busta Rhymes' song "Arab Money" that same year.

About Ron Browz

Early Life and Music Start

Rondell Edwin Turner was born in Harlem, New York City. He taught himself how to create hip hop beats. This was after he spent a short time as an artist on a small music label called Big Boss Records.

Becoming a Music Producer

Ron Browz started producing music professionally in 1992. He met a rapper named Big L from Harlem. Ron Browz played Big L some of the beats he had made.

He said that Big L's song "Ebonics" was the first song he produced that he heard on the radio. Ron Browz worked with Big L on five songs. Big L passed away in 1999. Ron Browz took a short break from music after that. He then decided to work even harder on his music career.

Ron Browz became famous in 2001 for producing Nas' song "Ether". This song was used in a rap battle between Nas and another rapper, Jay-Z. Ron Browz did not know his beat would be used for a "diss track" (a song meant to insult someone) until he heard the finished song.

After "Ether" became very popular, Ron Browz started calling himself "Ether Boy." He said that his name was not mentioned in the song. So, he began singing "Ether Boy" at the start of his produced songs. This helped people know he was the producer. In 2008, Ron Browz released an album called The Wonder Years. It featured other artists like Jadakiss and Papoose.

Big Record Deals and Popular Songs

Ron Browz signed with Universal Motown Records in September 2008. He then started working on his own album, Etherboy. He said he was low on money around this time. He heard a song that used the Auto-Tune effect. This inspired him to use Auto-Tune in his own music.

This led him to record "Pop Champagne". A new version of "Pop Champagne" with rappers Jim Jones and Juelz Santana became a big hit in 2008. It was the first song released for his planned Etherboy album. Another version of the song was made with Busta Rhymes. It had new lyrics celebrating Barack Obama's win in the 2008 election.

In 2008, he also released his solo song "Jumping (Out the Window)". This song also used a lot of Auto-Tune. It became popular on New York radio stations. However, some music critics did not like the song.

Ron Browz also sang on and produced Busta Rhymes' song "Arab Money". This song also used his Auto-Tune style. The song's lyrics caused some discussion. Ron Browz also sang on and produced "Rotate" for the group Capone-N-Noreaga.

Ron Browz said that his record label, Universal Motown, did not want to release his Etherboy album. He was confused by this decision. He thought it might have been because of a song by Jay-Z called "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)". That song criticized the use of Auto-Tune.

In May 2009, Ron Browz released the song "20 Dollars." This song was not a big success. He felt his label did not promote it enough. This led him to decide to leave Universal Motown. Even though "20 Dollars" was not a commercial hit, it became popular online. It was used in funny videos related to the Slenderman stories. Fans joked that Slenderman only wanted "20 dollars."

Working Independently

The Etherboy album was never officially released. Ron Browz left Universal Motown in October 2009. He started releasing his music on his own through his company, Ether Boy Records. His first independent release was an album called Timeless in 2009. It included the original "20 Dollars" song and a new version with Nicki Minaj.

In February 2010, he released "Ride Ya Bike (She's A Biker)." This song was with Foxy Brown. Ron Browz used much less Auto-Tune on his voice in this song. He said he planned to use less Auto-Tune in the future. He wanted to make songs with different amounts of the effect.

On July 20, 2010, he released his first full album, Etherlibrium. This album also used much less Auto-Tune. The album did not become a big hit. In 2011, he released a mixtape called The Christening. This mixtape had a different style, more like traditional New York hip hop.

Ron Browz's Music Style

Ron Browz's popular songs from the late 2000s were known for their catchy tunes. He was good at making simple melodies that people remembered.

He once described how he makes music. He said he just plays the beat and sings whatever comes to his mind. He believes that the catchiest songs become the biggest hits. He also said that the "hook" (the most memorable part of a song) is very important. He also said his music-making process depends a lot on his mood.
