Ronald Ellis Canada (born May 3, 1949) is an American actor and producer. He is well-known for often playing roles like judges and detectives. You might know him from TV shows such as One on One (2001–2004) and The Shield (2003–2004). He also starred in the movie Lone Star (1996).

Ron Canada's Early Life and News Career
Ron Canada was born in New York City on May 3, 1949. He first started his career in television news. In 1971, he became a news reporter at WBAL-TV. Later, from 1974 to 1977, he worked at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C..
During his time as a reporter, Ron Canada won some important awards. He was nominated twice for Regional Emmy Awards and won one in 1977. The next year, he received an A.P. Award for his excellent reporting. Before becoming a full-time actor, he also worked part-time for Voice of America. He then moved to New York in 1985 to focus on acting.
Ron Canada's Acting Career
Ron Canada has had a long and successful career in both movies and TV shows. He is especially known for his roles in films like Cinderella Man and Wedding Crashers. He also had a recurring role as Ted Barrow on the popular TV show The West Wing.
In 1996, Ron Canada received special attention for his role as "Otis Payne" in the movie Lone Star. This performance earned him the Dallas Film Critics Award.
He has also performed in many plays. One famous role was playing Iago in a unique version of Shakespeare's Othello. He also played Emmet Tate in Zooman and the Sign and Duncan Troy in Headstrong. For Headstrong, he was nominated for an Audelco Award for Best Supporting Actor. More recently, he was in the Broadway play Network.
