Ronald Rutherford Elvidge (born March 2, 1923 – died March 30, 2019) was a famous New Zealand rugby union player. He was known for playing in key positions like second five-eighth and centre. Ronald Elvidge was also a doctor, specializing in helping women and babies.

Ronald Elvidge's Rugby Career

Ronald Elvidge was a member of New Zealand's national rugby team, the All Blacks. He played for them from 1946 to 1950. During this time, he played 19 matches for the All Blacks.

He was also a captain for the team in seven of those matches. Nine of his games were international matches against other countries. Before joining the All Blacks, he played for the Otago team at a local level. Ronald Elvidge was born in Timaru, New Zealand.

Life After Rugby

After his exciting rugby career, Ronald Elvidge became a doctor. He specialized as an obstetrician and gynaecologist. This meant he helped women with their health and delivered babies.

Ronald Elvidge became the oldest living All Black after another player, Wally Argus, passed away in 2016. He lived a long life, passing away in Auckland on March 30, 2019, when he was 96 years old.
