Early Career in Government
In 1987, Rosa Quintana started working for the Galician government. She joined the Ministry of Fisheries, Shellfish, and Aquaculture. This department helps manage fishing and seafood. Two years later, she became the head of fishing inspection. This role meant she checked if fishing rules were being followed.
In 1992, she became the head of the Shellfish Service. This service focuses on shellfish like clams and mussels. From 1997, she worked as a special representative in Vigo. Vigo is an important port city. In 2001, she became the Director-General of Innovation and Fishing Development. This job involved finding new ways to improve fishing.
Becoming a Minister
In 2009, Rosa Quintana became a Minister in the Galician government. This is like being a top leader in a part of Spain. Her first role was Minister for the Sea. This job meant she was in charge of things related to the ocean.
In 2012, her role changed slightly. She became the Minister of Rural and Marine Affairs. This included both sea matters and issues in the countryside. Then, in 2015, her job was changed back to Minister for the Sea. She has held this important position ever since.
