Rosedale, Austin, Texas facts for kids
The Rosedale neighborhood is a friendly area in north central Austin, Texas. It's surrounded by 38th Street to the south, Shoal Creek to the west, North Loop / Hancock Drive to the north, and Lamar Boulevard to the east.
Rosedale is home to over 1200 houses. Many shops and businesses are easy to walk to. There are also several medical services nearby, including Seton Hospital.

Exploring Rosedale
Rosedale has a great spot called Ramsey Park right in the middle of the neighborhood. It's a fun place for everyone!
Ramsey Park Fun
Ramsey Park offers many cool things to do. You can find a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond for sports. There's also a basketball court, playgrounds for younger kids, and picnic areas perfect for outdoor meals.
Rosedale's Past
The Rosedale area has a long history. It started out very differently from how it looks today.
From Farms to Flowers
Back in the 1860s, Rosedale was mostly farm land. People used it for growing crops and for dairy farms, where they raised cows for milk.
In the 1900s, the area became known for its beautiful plants. Four different florists and plant nurseries were located here. Many of the trees and plants that were planted back then are still growing in Rosedale today!
Homes Through Time
Many of the houses you see in Rosedale were built a long time ago, mostly in the 1930s and 1940s. Over the years, people have updated these homes. Some have been made bigger, and many brand new houses have also been built in the neighborhood.
