Rossburg, Warren County, Ohio facts for kids
Rossburg is a small, unincorporated community located in Warren County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. An unincorporated community is a place where people live together, but it doesn't have its own official local government like a city or a town. Instead, it's usually managed by the larger county government.
The Story of Rossburg
Rossburg was never officially planned out on a map with streets and property lines by a government or developer. This is what "not officially platted" means. The community got its name from a man named Enoch A. Ross. He owned a local business called a tannery. A tannery is a place where animal hides (skins) are turned into leather, which can then be used to make shoes, bags, and other items.
A post office was first opened in Rossburg in the early 1830s. It was called "Rossburg" at that time. However, in 1838, the name of this post office was changed to "Butlerville."
