The Sweet History of Rossi's Ice Cream
The story of Rossi's begins with families moving from Italy to England. In the 1920s, Fioravanti Figliolini came to England with his brother Peter and his wife Pasqua. They were from a town called Cantù in Lombardy, which is north of Milan, Italy.
At first, Fioravanti and his brother traded as the Figliolini Brothers in Newcastle upon Tyne. Later, they teamed up with another Italian entrepreneur named Toni Rossi. In 1937, they were looking for new places to open shops. They decided to create another ice cream parlour by combining four old shops. Fioravanti eventually took over the business from Toni Rossi. However, he decided to keep the popular name 'Rossi's' for the ice cream parlour.
