A Look at Rossville's Past

Rossville got its name from a local resident. His name was Ross Thomas. This information comes from a book called Oklahoma Place Names.

The community once had its own post office. It opened on October 7, 1895. The post office served the area for over a decade. It closed its doors on February 15, 1907.

During the 1960s, a major road project happened. US Highway 177 was built through the area. Some buildings, including the store, had to be moved. They were relocated further back from the new highway. This helped make way for the road.
