Roy made an incredible start at Norwich City. In his very first game, he scored a hat-trick in less than 30 minutes! A hat-trick means scoring three goals in one game. This was a super impressive way to begin his career with the team.
Roy was known for scoring goals very often. Among Norwich's top 20 goal scorers, he had the best rate. He scored a goal almost every other game he played! His best performance was in 1951. In that game, he scored five goals against Walsall F.C..

Roy Hollis made history when he played for Southend United. In 1954, he scored another hat-trick against Norwich City. This happened at Norwich's home stadium, Carrow Road. This made him the only player ever to score three goals for Norwich City and also three goals against them at their home ground.
Representing His Division
Roy's skills were recognized beyond his club teams. He was chosen to play for the Third Division South representative team. This happened in both the 1956-57 and 1957-58 seasons. Being selected for this team showed that he was one of the best players in his division.
