The Story of Royal Dansk Cookies
The "Royal Dansk Company" started in 1966. It began in a city called Helsingør in Denmark. This is where the delicious butter cookies first came to life.
How Kelsen Group Was Formed
In 1990, the Royal Dansk Company joined with another cookie maker. This company was called Kjeldsen. Kjeldsen was also known for its butter cookies. Their cookies were very popular in places like Hong Kong and China.
When these two companies merged, they created a new company. This new company was named Kelsen.
Changes in Ownership
Over the years, Kelsen changed owners a few times. In 2013, a company called Campbell bought Kelsen. Campbell is famous for its soups.
Later, in 2019, Campbell sold Kelsen to the Italian company Ferrero. Ferrero paid $300 million for the company. Ferrero makes many popular sweets, like Nutella and Kinder Surprise.
The Famous Blue Tin Box
The blue tin box of Royal Dansk cookies is very special. On the lid, you can see a picture of the Hjemstavnsgaard farmhouse. This old farmhouse is located on the island of Funen in Denmark.
A Part of Popular Culture
