A Look Back at Ruby's History

For many years, Ruby was known for its post office. This post office was a really important spot! It was even combined with a general store, which is like an old-fashioned shop that sold all sorts of things people needed.

Having a post office made Ruby important enough to appear on world maps and atlases. This was a big deal for a small community! People would send and receive letters and packages there.

In the late 1970s, the post office and general store closed down. Because of this, the post office services moved to a nearby area called Lake Arrowhead. Even though the post office is gone, the area where it used to be is still called Ruby. It remains an unincorporated community today.
