Pastor Ruby Terry is an American singer who performs gospel music and Christian R&B. She was born in February 1952. Ruby Terry began her music journey in 1990. Her first album, Chapter One, was released by Malaco Records. All her music has been released by this company. Her second album, Live with the Southwest Louisiana Mass Choir, came out in 1992. This album became very popular, reaching the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. Her third album, What a Time, was released in 1994 and also appeared on the charts.
Early Life and Education
Ruby Karen Francis or Frances was born in Columbia, Mississippi, in February 1952. Her parents were Rev. L. J. Francis and his wife. She grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma. Ruby Terry graduated from Eisenhower High School. She then studied for an education degree. She attended Seward County Community College and Wichita State University.
Music Career Highlights
Ruby Terry's music career started in 1990. Her first album was Chapter One. It was released by Malaco Records. This record label has released all of her albums. Her second album, Live with the Southwest Louisiana Mass Choir, came out in 1992. This album was a big success. It reached number 11 on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. In 1994, she released her third album, What a Time. This album also did well, reaching number 39 on the same chart. Her fourth album, God Can Do It, was released in 1996.
Personal Life and Ministry
Evangelist Terry met her husband, Pastor Ivanhoe Terry, while she was studying. They later moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana. Ruby Terry has two sons, Eric and Christopher. After her husband passed away, Evangelist Terry became a pastor. She founded the Fountain of Life COGIC church in Lake Charles. She also helps lead the Greater New Orleans Jurisdiction, COGIC.
