Pastor Ruby Terry is an American singer known for her amazing gospel music. She also sings Christian R&B. Ruby Terry started her music journey in 1990. Her first album was called Chapter One. All her music has been released by Malaco Records. Her second album, Live with the Southwest Louisiana Mass Choir, came out in 1992. This album became very popular. It even made it onto the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart! Her third album, What a Time, was released in 1994. It also appeared on the charts. She released God Can Do It in 1996.
Ruby Terry's Early Life and Education
Ruby Terry was born in February 1952. Her birth name was Ruby Karen Francis or Frances. She was born in Columbia, Mississippi. Ruby grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma. She went to Eisenhower High School there. After high school, she studied education. She took classes at Seward County Community College and Wichita State University.
Her Music Career
Ruby Terry started her professional music career in 1990. Her first album was Chapter One. It was released by Malaco Records. This record label has released all her albums. Her second album, Live with the Southwest Louisiana Mass Choir, came out in 1992. This album was a big success! It reached number 11 on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart.
In 1994, she released her third album, What a Time. This album also did well on the charts. It reached number 39 on the Gospel Albums chart. Her fourth album, God Can Do It, was released in 1996.
Her Personal Life
Ruby Terry met her husband, Pastor Ivanhoe Terry, while she was studying. They moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana. Ruby has two sons, Eric and Christopher. After her husband passed away, Ruby Terry became the founder and pastor of Fountain of Life COGIC in Lake Charles. She also helps lead the Greater New Orleans Jurisdiction, COGIC.
