Rupert Simeon Graves (born 30 June 1963) is an English actor. He has acted in many films, television shows, and theatre plays. He is well-known for his roles in movies like A Room with a View and Maurice. He also starred as DI Lestrade in the popular BBC TV series Sherlock from 2010 to 2017.

Early Life and School
Rupert Graves was born in Weston-super-Mare, a town in Somerset, England. His mother, Mary, helped people with travel. His father, Richard, was a music teacher and musician.
Rupert went to Wyvern Community School in his hometown. He left school when he was 16 years old.
Acting Career
After leaving school, Rupert Graves's first job was as a circus clown. Since then, he has acted in more than 25 films. He has also appeared in over 35 television shows. Besides screen acting, he has performed on stage in many plays.
He became famous for acting in historical dramas. These were movies based on old books by E. M. Forster. They included A Room with a View (1985) and Maurice (1987).
He also appeared in other films like The Madness of King George (1994). In 1996, he won an award for Best Actor. This was at the Montreal World Film Festival for his role in the movie Intimate Relations. He was also praised for playing Young Jolyon Forsyte in the TV series The Forsyte Saga (2002).
