Rutana Province is one of the 18 provinces in the country of Burundi. A province is like a large region or state within a country. The main city and capital of this province is also called Rutana.

Rutana Province is located in the southeastern part of Burundi. It is known for its beautiful natural features. The province covers an area of about 1,959 square kilometers (756 square miles). In 2008, about 333,510 people lived there.

Nature and Geography

Rutana Province has some interesting natural landmarks. These include the amazing Kagera waterfalls. Waterfalls are places where a river flows over a steep drop. The province also has the Nyakazu Fault. A fault is a crack in the Earth's crust where rocks have moved. These features make the province a unique place to visit and explore.
