Ruth Paul (born in 1964) is a super talented author and artist from Wellington, New Zealand. She writes and illustrates awesome picture books for children. Imagine drawing all the pictures and writing all the words for a book – that's what she does!

Ruth studied at Victoria University of Wellington and also learned about design at Wellington Polytechnic. In 2004, her very first book, The Animal Undie Ball, came out. She wrote the story and drew all the pictures for it. Since then, her books have become popular all over the world and have been translated into many different languages. That means kids in other countries can enjoy her stories too! In 2019, she won a special award called the NZ Arts Foundation Mallinson Rendel Laureate Award for Illustration, which is a big deal for illustrators.
