Sándor Szalay (born June 6, 1893 – died April 5, 1965) was a famous Hungarian pair skater. He teamed up with his partner, Olga Orgonista, to become one of the best skating duos of their time. Together, they won many important competitions.

A Champion Skater

Sándor Szalay and Olga Orgonista were a very successful pair in figure skating. They worked hard and achieved great things on the ice. Their teamwork led them to win several major titles.

European Champions

Sándor and Olga became the best in Europe twice! They won the gold medal at the European Figure Skating Championships in 1930. This competition was held in Vienna, Austria. They proved they were still the best by winning again in 1931 in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Winning two European titles in a row was a huge achievement for them.

World Championship Medals

The pair also earned medals at the World Figure Skating Championships. These championships bring together the best skaters from all over the globe. Sándor and Olga won a bronze medal in 1929 in Budapest, Hungary. Two years later, in 1931, they won a silver medal in Berlin, Germany. Life After Skating

After the 1932 World Figure Skating Championships, Sándor Szalay and Olga Orgonista decided to retire from competitive skating. Sándor then started a new career. He worked as a construction inspector in a rubber factory. He also stayed involved in the world of skating. From 1945 to 1950, he served as the president of the Hungarian Skating Federation. This meant he helped lead and organize skating events in Hungary.
