It shares its borders with several other areas: Santa Cruz to the northeast, São Lourenço dos Órgãos to the southeast, Ribeira Grande de Santiago to the southwest, and Santa Catarina to the northwest.

History of the Municipality

The area of São Salvador do Mundo became its own separate concelho in 2005. Before that, it was part of a larger area called the Municipality of Santa Catarina. It was decided to split it off to create this new, smaller local government area.
