How S.C.O. Roubaix Started
S.C.O. Roubaix was created in 1990. It was formed by the merger of two older football clubs: Racing Stade Roubaisien and Roubaix Football. These two clubs had their own long histories before they became one.
The Story of Racing Stade Roubaisien
The club that became Racing Stade Roubaisien started way back in 1895. It was first known as Racing Club de Roubaix. This name lasted until 1944.
From 1944 to 1963, this club became part of a bigger team called C.O. Roubaix-Tourcoing. This meant they played under a new name for a while. After 1963, the club went back to being known as Racing Stade Roubaisien until the merger in 1990.
The Story of Roubaix Football
The other club, Roubaix Football, also had a long history. It began in 1928 as Excelsior Athlétic Club de Roubaix. This was its name until 1944.
Like Racing Club, Excelsior Athlétic Club also joined C.O. Roubaix-Tourcoing from 1944 to 1970. After this period, it returned to its original name, Excelsior Athlétic Club de Roubaix, from 1970 to 1977. Finally, from 1977 until the merger in 1990, it was known as Roubaix Football.
Where They Played
S.C.O. Roubaix played their home games at a place called Parc Jean Dubrule. This stadium is located in the city of Roubaix, which is in France.
