Map showing Saco's location in Missouri

Saco is a small, unincorporated community located in the southern part of Madison County, Missouri, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's usually governed by the county.

Saco is nestled along Twelvemile Creek, a local waterway. It's about sixteen miles (or 26 kilometers) southwest of a larger town called Fredericktown. You can find Saco if you travel along Missouri Route C.

What is Saco?

Saco is a quiet place that has been around for a long time. Even though it's not a city, it has a history.

Saco's Post Office

A post office was opened in Saco way back in 1892. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1979. It's not clear why the name "Saco" was chosen for this community, but it has been known by that name for over a century.
