Safaree Lloyd Samuels, born on July 4, 1981, is an American television actor and rapper. He is well-known for appearing on the reality TV show Love & Hip Hop. He has been on all four versions of the show: Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, Love & Hip Hop: New York, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, and Love & Hip Hop: Miami. This makes him the only cast member to appear in all four. Before his TV career, he was a "hype man" for the hip hop group Hoodstars. He has also released his own music, including one album and several mixtapes.

Safaree Lloyd Samuels was born in Brooklyn, New York City, on July 4, 1981. His parents came from Jamaica. He grew up in a neighborhood called Canarsie in New York.

Career Highlights

Starting in Music

Safaree began his career as a "hype man" for a hip hop group called Hoodstars. This group formed in the early 2000s. A hype man helps get the crowd excited during a performance. The group recorded a song for a WWE Diva named Victoria in 2004. This song was on an album called ThemeAddict: WWE The Music, Vol. 6. After the group broke up, Safaree continued to work as a hype man for rapper Nicki Minaj.

In 2012, Safaree appeared in Nicki Minaj's music video for "Stupid Hoe". He also helped with some background vocals on three songs from her 2012 album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

Releasing His Own Music

In 2015, Safaree released his own mixtapes. These were called It Is What It Is and It Is What It Is, Vol. 2. A mixtape is like an album, but often released independently. In 2016, he released another mixtape titled Real Yard Vibes.

Reality TV Appearances

Safaree became very famous through reality television. In May 2016, it was announced that he would join the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. This show premiered in August 2016. In August 2017, he also competed on another VH1 show called Scared Famous.

He later joined Love & Hip Hop: New York in 2017. He also appeared on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta and Love & Hip Hop: Miami. This made him the only person to be on all four Love & Hip Hop shows.

In 2018, Safaree received a Blue & Bougie Impact Award. This award recognized him for representing Jamaica on VH1.

Personal Life

Safaree Samuels was engaged to actress Erica Mena in December 2018. They got married on October 7, 2019. Their daughter was born in February 2020. In May 2021, they shared that they were expecting their second child. Their son was born in June 2021. Erica Mena filed for divorce in May 2021, and their divorce was finalized in 2022. Safaree has since dated his Love & Hip Hop co-star Amara La Negra.
