This area was part of the Pays de la Loire region. It was also found within the Vendée department. A department is similar to a county or a larger administrative area.
On January 1, 2019, Saint-Georges-de-Montaigu joined with other communes. It became a part of a new, larger commune called Montaigu-Vendée. This means it is now part of a bigger town.
