Salarzón

Salarzón is a small village located in the Liébana region of Cantabria, Spain. It is part of the Cillorigo de Liébana municipality. The village sits high up at 666 meters (about 2,185 feet) above sea level. It is about 6.8 kilometers (4.2 miles) away from Tama, which is the main town of the municipality. In 2008, Salarzón had 33 people living there.

This village is part of a group of communities known as "Bedoya's Council." These villages are found in the Bedoya Valley, which is close to the Cillorigo Valley. They are located on the western side of Rock Sagra, a mountain in the Cantabrian Mountains.

What to See in Salarzón

Salarzón has some interesting old buildings. One important building is the palace of Vicente Gómez de la Cortina y Salceda, which was built in 1825. There is also a beautiful church from the early 1800s, built in the Neoclassic style.

Exploring the Mountains

Salarzón is a great starting point for hiking. One path from the village leads to Peña Ventosa, a mountain that is 1,423 meters (about 4,669 feet) high. This mountain is located between Salarzón and another village called Lebeña. Another hiking trail begins from San Pedro of Bedoya. Peña Ventosa is a limestone mountain, and it can be quite challenging to climb.
