History of Salesville
Salesville was first planned out in 1835. This means the town's streets and building lots were officially mapped. Later, in 1878, it officially became an incorporated village. This gave it its own local government.
A post office opened in Salesville in 1855. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. The post office stayed open until 2002.
An interesting event happened near Salesville in 1828. A man named Joseph C. Dylkes claimed to be a special religious leader at a large outdoor meeting. He became known as the "Leatherwood God" because of this.
