Sally Macart Walker (born 1956) is an American author who writes non-fiction books for kids and young adults. She is famous for writing about science topics. For example, she wrote Mystery Fish: Secrets of the Coelacanth (2005) and Written in Bone: Buried Lives of Jamestown and Colonial Maryland (2009). Sally Walker also writes books in both Spanish and English, like La Luz/Light (2007) and La Electricidad/Electricity (2007). Sometimes, she is also known as Sally Fleming.

Sally Walker was born in New Jersey in 1956. Today, she lives in DeKalb, Illinois. In 1974, she married James Walker, who studies rocks. They have two children. Sally Walker earned her college degree from Upsala College in 1975. She enjoys hiking, reading, cooking, and gardening in her free time. Sally Walker's Career as an Author

Before becoming a full-time author, Sally Walker worked with children's books in other ways. She bought children's books for Junction Book Store in DeKalb, IL, from 1988 to 1994. She also worked as a children's book expert for Anderson's Bookshops in Naperville, IL. For a while, she taught at Northern Illinois University.

In 2006, her book Secrets of a Civil War Submarine: Solving the Mysteries of the H.L. Hunley won a special award called the Sibert Medal. This award is given to the best non-fiction book for children.
