Salvador Aulestia (born November 13, 1915 – died June 1994) was a talented Spanish artist. He was a painter, sculptor, drawer, and writer. Salvador was born in Barcelona, Spain.

He created a huge sculpture called the Sideroploide. This artwork is 65 meters long and 17 meters high! It stands proudly at the Barcelona harbor. Salvador became famous around the world. He had art shows in Rome, Italy, and in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s. He even had a special display at the Venice Biennial art show.

Salvador's art changed over time. He started with a style called expressionism. Then he explored other styles like fauvism and abstract art. In 1963, he created his very own art style. He called it "Apotelesmatical Art" and wrote a book about it.

Salvador Aulestia's Early Life

Salvador Aulestia was born into a family with a military background. He spent his early childhood in Barcelona, Spain. When he was three, his family moved to a new area. Even at a young age, Salvador showed a special talent for drawing. His drawings were very clear and simple for a child his age.

When he was eight, Salvador started reading many books. These books were from a private library and were about interesting topics like magic. He went to different schools as he grew up. In 1931, he joined a seminary, which is a school for religious studies. But he never stopped loving art.

Meeting Famous People

In 1935, Salvador Aulestia met a very famous writer. This was Garcia Lorca, a well-known Spanish poet and playwright. Salvador drew a quick sketch of him. This sketch was later used to create a full portrait.

Life During Wartime

On July 19, 1936, the Spanish Civil War began. The seminary where Salvador was studying had to close. Salvador was involved in some events during the war. After some time, he returned to Barcelona in 1940.

His Artistic Journey

After the war, Salvador continued his art studies. He enrolled at the Escuela de Artes Y Oficios in Barcelona. He started having many art exhibitions. These shows took his artwork all over the world.

In the 1950s, Salvador began spending time in Milan, Italy. He eventually moved there permanently in 1972. In Milan, he created many paintings, drawings, and sculptures. He also wrote and published several books. Salvador Aulestia continued to create art until he passed away in June 1994.
