Samarria Brevard was born on September 22, 1993. She is an American skateboarder and musician. She skates "goofy-footed," which means she rides with her right foot forward.

Samarria Brevard's Skateboarding Journey

Samarria grew up in Riverside, California. She started skateboarding when she was 13 years old. She often skated with her brothers and cousins.

Early Wins and Achievements

In 2011, Samarria won first place at the Supergirl Am Jam. This event took place in Venice Beach, CA. Her win helped her join the Hoopla Skateboards team.

In 2013, she placed 4th at the X Games in Los Angeles. The next year, in 2014, she finished 10th at the X Games Austin. Also in 2014, Samarria made history. She became the first African-American female skateboarder to win the Kimberley Diamond Cup Women's Street Championship. This big event happened in South Africa.

Continuing Success and Media Appearances

In 2015, Samarria placed in the top ten. This was at the Women's Super Crown Championship. It was part of the Nike SB Street League Series. She then placed 5th at the X Games in 2016.

Later in 2016, Samarria was a special guest. She joined fellow skaters Leo Baker and Nora Vasconcellos. They were on Thrasher magazine's King of the Road Season 2.

In March 2017, Samarria appeared in a music video. She and skater Savannah Headden were in "Name For You." This song was from The Shins album Heartworms. They were shown skateboarding around Southern California.

Silver Medal and Professional Status

In July 2017, Samarria earned a silver medal. She placed 2nd at the X Games Minneapolis 2017. This was in the Women's Skateboard Street contest. In her final run, she landed a difficult trick. It was a Tre flip down an eight-stair drop.

Soon after winning her silver medal, the company Enjoi promoted Samarria to professional status. Also in 2017, Samarria released a video part. It was in Don't Quit Your Day Job. This film was directed by Erik Sandoval and Monique O’Toole. It was the first all-female skate film in the US in over ten years. Transworld Skateboarding released the film.

In 2018, Samarria released another video part. It was in the Etnies skate video called ALBUM.

Olympic Skateboarder

In 2021, Samarria Brevard joined the first USA Olympic skateboarding team. She took part in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
