Sambú is a small community located in the beautiful Darién Province of Panama. It is part of the Chepigana District. In Panama, places like Sambú are called a corregimiento. Think of a corregimiento as a local division, a bit like a small town or a specific area within a larger district.

Where is Sambú?
Sambú is found in the southeastern part of Panama. It sits right where two rivers meet: the Sambú River and the Sabalo River. This meeting point is called a confluence. Its exact location is at 8 degrees, 1 minute, 30 seconds North latitude and 78 degrees, 12 minutes, 30 seconds West longitude.
The area around Sambú covers about 38.8 square kilometers (which is about 15 square miles). This makes it a fairly small but important area within the Darién Province.
How Many People Live in Sambú?
The number of people living in Sambú has changed a bit over the years.
- In 1990, there were 762 people.
- By 2000, the population was 747.
- In 2010, the population grew to 931 people.
