Climate in San Agustín

San Agustín has a cool and dry climate because it is so high up in the mountains. The weather can change a lot between day and night. Even though it's near the equator, the high elevation means it's never really hot.

The village experiences a dry season and a wet season. Most of the rain falls during the summer months, from December to March. The rest of the year is very dry, especially from April to November. Temperatures can drop below freezing, especially during the winter months (June, July, August in the Southern Hemisphere).

Life in the Andes Mountains

Living in a high-altitude village like San Agustín means adapting to unique conditions. The air is thinner, and the sun's rays are stronger. People in these areas have developed special ways of life over many generations.

Many people in the Potosí Department, including around San Agustín, are involved in farming and raising animals. They often grow crops that can survive in the cool, dry climate, such as potatoes and quinoa. Llamas and alpacas are also common animals raised here.
