San Agustín (say "san ah-goos-TEEN") is a small town and the area around it, called a municipality, in Honduras. It is part of the Copán region. You can find it about 36.4 kilometers (about 22.6 miles) northwest of Santa Rosa de Copán by road.

History of San Agustín
San Agustín has changed its official status a few times! In 1896, it was just a small village, known as an aldea.
Later, in 1930, it became a full municipality. This means it got its own local government.
However, in 1940, it became part of the larger Santa Rosa area again. But don't worry, San Agustín got its municipality status back in 1957!
Where is San Agustín?
San Agustín is located in a busy spot! It shares borders with several other towns and areas.
To the north, it borders Concepción. To the south, it borders La Unión and Cucuyagua.
If you go east, you'll find Santa Rosa de Copán. And to the west, it borders Santa Rita.
Villages in the Municipality
The municipality of San Agustín includes four main villages. The biggest one, and the capital of the municipality, is also called San Agustín.
The other three villages are:
- Cerro Negro
- El Descombro
- Granadillal
What Can You Find in San Agustín?
San Agustín is known for its local crafts. People in the area are good at making pottery.
In the main town, you can visit the Iglesia Asambleas de Dios Aposento, which is a church. There's also a small guesthouse called Rancho Anita if you ever want to visit!
