San Andrés is a small town located in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. It is the main town, or "municipal seat," for the area around it, which is called Riva Palacio Municipality.
In 2010, about 662 people lived in San Andrés. This number was a little lower than the 667 people who lived there in 2005.

The Story of San Andrés
San Andrés, Chihuahua, was started a long time ago, in the year 1696. At first, a place called San Francisco de Asís was in charge of this area. Later, a powerful leader named General Trias took control.
Becoming a Municipality
The area officially became a municipality, which is like a local government area, on October 18, 1887. For a while, in December 1932, the municipality was renamed Riva Palacio. This was done to honor a general named Vicente Riva Palacio.
Changing Back the Name
However, on January 22, 1992, the capital town of the Riva Palacio municipality went back to its original name: San Andrés.
