San Francisco is a small town and a special type of local government area called a municipality in Colombia. It is located in the Antioquia Department, which is like a state or province. This town is part of the Eastern Antioquia region. In 2015, about 5,318 people lived there.
A Look Back: San Francisco's History
San Francisco used to have a different name: El Morrón. It was first started in 1830. Back then, it was part of another nearby town called Cocorná. Later, in February 1986, San Francisco became its own municipality. It was named San Francisco to honor Saint Francis of Assisi.
Weather and Climate
San Francisco has a tropical rainforest climate. This means it's warm all year round and gets a lot of rain. The rainfall is very heavy throughout the year.
