San Francisco Javier de Satevó, often called just Satevó, is a small town in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. It is the main town, or "municipal seat," for the area around it, known as the Satevó municipality.
In 2010, the town had 445 people living there. This was a small decrease from 450 people in 2005.

History of Satevó
Founding the Mission
San Francisco Javier de Satevó started as a mission. A Jesuit missionary named José Pascual founded it in 1640. Missions were like special settlements built by religious groups.
Revolts and Rebuilding
However, the mission was destroyed in 1652 during a revolt by the Tarahumara people. It was not rebuilt until 1674. Father Juan Sarmiento helped to rebuild it.
Famous People from Satevó
Fidel Ávila, who was the Governor of Chihuahua in 1914 and 1915, was born in San Francisco Javier de Satevó in 1875. He was an important leader in the state.
Attack by Francisco Villa
On December 24, 1918, a famous general named Francisco Villa attacked San Francisco Javier de Satevó. He led about 900 soldiers. The town's defenders, 70 men led by Pedro Alonso, bravely refused to give up.
Villa's soldiers slowly pushed the defenders back into the local church. The attackers then set the church on fire. After that, they took valuable things from the village.
