San Francisco de Borja is a small town located in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua. It is also the main town, or "seat," of the San Francisco de Borja municipality. In 2010, about 1,157 people lived in the town. This was a small increase from 1,142 people in 2005.
History of San Francisco de Borja
San Francisco de Borja was first started in the 1640s. It was built by Jesuits, who were a group of Catholic priests. They created it as a mission to help the Tarahumara people, who are an Indigenous group living in the area.
However, in 1648, the Tarahumara people fought a war against the Spanish. During this war, the mission of San Francisco de Borja was destroyed. But don't worry, the town was later rebuilt and continued to grow!
