San Jacinto Center is a group of three large buildings in Downtown Austin, Texas. It sits right next to Lady Bird Lake, offering great views. This complex includes an office tower, a Four Seasons Hotel, and a tall building with homes called the Four Seasons Residences.

The office tower and hotel are built in a unique style called postmodern architecture. They are covered with beautiful Texas creme limestone and pink Llano rose granite. Besides the main towers, you can find many restaurants and shops at ground level. Some companies, like The Zebra and The Chive, have their main offices here.

The Story of San Jacinto Center

The San Jacinto Center's office tower and hotel opened on January 14, 1987. Austin's mayor, Frank C. Cooksey, and the founder of Four Seasons Hotels, Isadore Sharp, were there for the opening.

Building the Towers

The original plan was to build two office towers that looked exactly alike. However, the second office building was not built at that time. This was due to economic problems in the early 1990s.

Later, in 1996, there were plans to build the second tower. It was meant to be just like the first one. But these plans did not work out, and the tower was never built. In 2000, people thought about building a residential tower on that spot. These plans were also put aside.

Finally, in 2007, construction began on the Four Seasons Residences. This building has 166 condominium homes. It was the second time a residential tower was planned for that location. The famous architect Michael Graves designed it. This modern tower opened in 2010. It features a mix of brick and glass on the outside. It also has a swimming pool and a special deck on the roof.
