San José is a lovely town in Colombia. It is located in the western part of the Caldas Department. San José became its own independent town in 1997. Before that, it was part of the Risaralda Municipality. The town is about 67 kilometers from Manizales, a bigger city. San José got its name because its founders arrived on March 19, which is Saint Joseph's Day.

Exploring San José
San José is divided into 18 smaller areas called veredas. These are like small neighborhoods or rural communities. Some of these areas include Altomira, La Paz, and Buena Vista. Each vereda has its own unique charm.

San José shares its borders with other towns and areas:
