San Justo is a city located in the middle part of Santa Fe province, Argentina. It is about 99 kilometers (62 miles) north of Santa Fe city, which is the capital of the province.

In 2010, about 22,000 people lived in San Justo. It is also the main town of the San Justo Department.

History of San Justo

San Justo was started in 1868 by a person named Mariano Cabal. It grew from a small settlement into a more organized community.

Becoming a Commune and City

On July 13, 1887, San Justo officially became a comuna, which is like a local government area. A year later, on September 1, 1888, the Provincial Railway of Santa Fe reached the town. This was a big step for the town's growth. San Justo officially became a city on September 17, 1959.

The 1973 Tornado

On January 10, 1973, a very strong and damaging tornado hit San Justo. This event is known as the San Justo tornado. It caused a lot of destruction in the area.
