Government and Leadership

The 2013 Election Tie
Something unusual happened in San Luis during the local elections on November 24, 2013. The two main political groups, the Liberal Party and the National Party, had candidates running for mayor.
After all the votes were counted, both candidates ended up with the exact same number of votes! This meant there was a tie for who would become the mayor of San Luis.
No Mayor Since 2014
Because of this tie, no one could be officially declared the winner. When the new government period started on January 25, 2014, San Luis did not have a mayor. This situation continued for some time, meaning the municipality was without its main elected leader.
