The San Matéo River is a river located in Bolivia, a country in South America. It flows through the Cochabamba Department, specifically in the Tiraque Province and the Chapare Province. This river is an important part of the Amazon River system, which means its waters eventually join the mighty Amazon River.
About the San Matéo River
The San Matéo River is a significant waterway in central Bolivia. It helps shape the landscape of the Cochabamba Department. The river's journey takes it through different areas, showing the diverse geography of Bolivia.
Where the River Flows
The San Matéo River flows mainly towards the northeast. It travels through the landscape until it reaches the town of Villa Tunari. Just before it gets to Villa Tunari, the San Matéo River receives water from its most important helper river, the Ivirizu River. The Ivirizu River flows into the San Matéo from the south.
Joining Other Rivers
On the eastern side of Villa Tunari, the San Matéo River meets another important river called the Espíritu Santo River. The Espíritu Santo River comes from the west. When these two rivers, the San Matéo and the Espíritu Santo, join together, they form a new, larger river. From that meeting point, the river is known as the Chapare River.
