Early Life and Political Journey
Sanchaman Limboo was born on January 15, 1947. His birthplace was Hee Yangthang, located in West Sikkim. Before Sikkim became a part of India, it was a kingdom.
He later lived in Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim. He was a member of the Sikkim Sangram Parishad political party.
Time as Chief Minister
Sanchaman Limboo became the Chief Minister of Sikkim on June 17, 1994. He held this important position for 179 days. During his time in office, a significant law was put into action in Sikkim.
The Other Backward Classes Act
During Limboo's leadership, the central act for Other Backward Classes (OBC) was started in Sikkim. This act helps certain groups of people who have faced challenges in the past. It aims to give them better opportunities in education and jobs.
Later Life and Passing
After his time as Chief Minister, Sanchaman Limboo continued to be a respected figure. He passed away on November 8, 2020. He was 73 years old at the time of his death. He had been ill for a long time.
