Sandoval first appeared as a census-designated place in the 2010 U.S. Census. It was one of three new CDPs formed from the larger Fronton CDP. The other two were Guadalupe-Guerra and Sunset.

In 2020, the population of Sandoval was 37 people. Most of the residents were of Hispanic or Latino background. There were also a few non-Hispanic white and multiracial residents.
Education
Students in Sandoval attend schools that are part of the Roma Independent School District. The elementary school for the community, based on the 2010 Census, is Emma Vera Elementary School. For high school, students go to Roma High School, which is the only comprehensive high school in the district.
