Sandy Cohen III (Hebrew: סנדי כהן) was born on September 22, 1995. He is an American-Israeli professional basketball player. Sandy plays for Hapoel Afula B.C. in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
He was a star player at Seymour Community High School. There, he helped his team win two Bay Conference championships. Sandy then played college basketball for Marquette University and later for the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. After college, he was not chosen in the 2019 NBA draft. In August 2019, he signed a four-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Sandy Cohen was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in the U.S. His parents are Linda King and Sandy Cohen, Jr. Sandy's family is part of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin. He also has Jewish family background through his father. Sandy has three siblings, including Minnesota Lynx player Natisha Hiedeman.
He went to Seymour Community High School. While there, his team won two Bay Conference championships in 2012 and 2014. He was also named to the First Team All-Conference twice. In his final year, Sandy led the Bay Conference in points per game. He was also named the Bay Conference Player of the Year. After his senior year, experts ranked him as one of the top 100 new players.
College Basketball Journey
Playing for Marquette (2014–2016)
Sandy started playing for Marquette University in the 2014–2015 season. He usually came off the bench as a substitute player. In his first year, he scored a high of 12 points in one game. In his second year, he set new personal bests with 24 points and eight assists in a game.
In November 2016, Sandy decided to leave Marquette. He wanted to play more and have a bigger role on a team. He then announced he would transfer to Green Bay.
Playing for Green Bay (2017–2019)
Because of college transfer rules, Sandy had to sit out the 2016–17 season. This meant he would only have one year left to play. However, in October 2017, he received special permission. This gave him an extra year of playing time.
Sandy first played for Green Bay on December 21, 2017. In that game, he scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. In the 2017–18 season, he scored a career-high 36 points in one game. He also led the Horizon League in steals, with 1.8 steals per game. He was also sixth in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game.
In his final year at Green Bay, Sandy led his team in almost all stats. He set a new record for Green Bay by scoring 666 points in one season. He also received many awards from the Horizon League and other groups.
Professional Basketball Career
Maccabi Tel Aviv
After the 2019 NBA draft, Sandy Cohen was not drafted by any NBA team. He played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Summer League. He also worked out with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers. On August 12, 2019, Sandy signed a four-year contract. He joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
Bnei Herzliya
On July 14, 2021, Sandy was loaned from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Bnei Herzliya. Another player, Dori Sahar, also joined them. On July 8, 2022, Sandy signed a new contract with Bnei Herzliya. He played for them until 2024.
Personal Life
Sandy Cohen's father has a Jewish background. Because of this, Sandy became an Israeli citizen in May 2020.
