Sandy Cohen III (Hebrew: סנדי כהן; born September 22, 1995) is a professional basketball player. He plays for Hapoel Afula B.C. in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Sandy is from both America and Israel.
He was a great player at Seymour Community High School. He helped his team win two championships. After high school, he played college basketball for Marquette University and then the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. In 2019, Sandy wasn't chosen in the 2019 NBA draft. However, he signed a four-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv in August 2019.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Sandy Cohen was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. His parents are Linda King and Sandy Cohen, Jr. His family is part of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin. Sandy is also of Jewish descent through his father. He has three siblings, including Connecticut Sun player Natisha Hiedeman.
He went to Seymour Community High School. There, he helped his team win two Bay Conference championships. These wins happened in 2012 and 2014. He was also named to the First Team All-Conference twice. In his senior year, Sandy led the Bay Conference in points per game. He was also named the Bay Conference Player of the Year.
During his junior year, he received an All-State Honorable Mention. This award came from the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. After his senior season, Sandy was ranked as a top-100 player. This means many experts thought he was one of the best young players in the country.
College Basketball Journey
Playing for Marquette University (2014–2017)
Sandy started playing for Marquette University in the 2014–2015 season. He mostly came off the bench as a substitute player. In his first year, he scored 12 points in one game. He also got six rebounds and played 31 minutes.
In his second year, he set new personal bests. He scored 24 points, had eight assists, and played 36 minutes in a game. In November 2016, after playing only three games of his junior season, Sandy decided to leave Marquette. He wanted to play more and have a bigger role on a team. He then announced he would transfer to Green Bay.
Playing for Green Bay University (2017–2019)
Because of NCAA transfer rules, Sandy had to sit out the 2016–17 season. This meant he would only have one year left to play college basketball. But in October 2017, Sandy received a special permission, called an NCAA waiver. This waiver gave him an extra year of eligibility to play.
Sandy's first game for Green Bay was on December 21, 2017. He scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in that game. In his "redshirt junior" season (2017-18), Sandy had a career-high of 36 points. He also won the Horizon League Player of the Week award. He led the Horizon League in steals, with 1.8 steals per game. He was also sixth in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game.
In his "redshirt senior" season, Sandy was the top player for the Phoenix. He led the team in all major statistics. He also set a new record for Green Bay by scoring 666 points in one season. He received many awards and honors from the Horizon League and other groups.
Professional Basketball Career
Starting with Maccabi Tel Aviv
After college, Sandy was not chosen in the 2019 NBA draft. However, he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Summer League. He also practiced with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers. On August 12, 2019, Sandy signed a four-year contract. He joined Maccabi Tel Aviv, a team in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
Moving to Bnei Herzliya
On July 14, 2021, Sandy was loaned from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Bnei Herzliya. Another player, Dori Sahar, also joined him. On July 8, 2022, Sandy signed a new contract with Bnei Herzliya. This contract was for one year, with an option for another year.
Personal Life and Citizenship
Sandy Cohen's father is of Jewish background. Because of this, Sandy became an Israeli citizen in May 2020. This process is called naturalization.
