History of Sandy Hook
One of the most important historical places in Sandy Hook is the John Ford Home. This house was built in 1809 by a man named John Ford. It became a key meeting spot in the early history of Mississippi.
- In 1814 and 1818, the house hosted two big meetings for the Methodist church in Mississippi.
- In 1817, a special meeting called the Pearl River Convention happened there. This meeting was about Mississippi becoming a state in the United States!
