Sandy's Education and Early Career

Later, Sandy went to the University of Otago. She studied political studies, which is about how governments work and how people make decisions in society. After her own children were born, she started writing stories especially for kids.

In 2002, Sandy was chosen as the Children's Writer in Residence at the University of Otago College of Education. This is a special role where a writer gets time and support to focus on their writing.
