Sans Souci Island and the 2008 Flood
Sans Souci Island was greatly impacted by a big flood in 2008. This event is known as the Iowa flood of 2008.
The water levels rose very high. By June 10, 2008, everyone living on the island had to leave their homes. This happened because a sandbag wall, built to hold back the water, broke. The flood caused a lot of damage to the island.
