What is Sant Feliu Church?
This church was built a very long time ago, in the year 1265. It was put up right after King Jaume I of Aragon took over the town of Xàtiva. King Jaume I was an important ruler who expanded his kingdom. Building the church was a way to mark this new chapter for the town.
The church stands on a special spot. It's near a castle called Castell and a viewpoint known as Bellveret. What's even more interesting is that it was built on the exact place where an even older church, a cathedral, used to stand.
Understanding the Building Styles
The Sant Feliu Church mixes two famous types of architecture: Romanesque and Gothic.
